It’s been a couple of months since the last issue of The Nowhere Man. Life and work have been so busy. In a few weeks, I’m moving into a tiny cottage in the countryside reached solely by a bridge over a stream, where I’ll finally have a study. That should make me write more (?)
The paperback release of The Search takes place on 7th December 2023, just in time for Christmas. You can pre-order now at Amazon. Here’s an exclusive first look at the front and back covers, featuring quotes from some people I’ve gotten to know over the last few years:
Earlier in the month I signed with United Agents, where I’ll be represented by Charles Walker and Olivia Martin for my television and writing work. Charles and Olivia also represent David Olusoga and Michael Rosen, and I’m pleased to be among such great talents. I’ve been glued to my television watching David’s new series Union the past week. We’re currently working away on the proposal for my next book and documentary, which brings together my work in archaeology, history, and human rights to tell a story long overdue for its time in the sun. In a lot of ways I think it has the potential to be my defining work - but then I thought The Search was exactly that when I pressed send on the manuscript, so who knows.
As it’s now an old issue, I think it’s fine to share the full article I wrote for British Archaeology last month about my life and career. It was strange to write a retrospective at 31 and 11 months old, but it was lovely to look back over the last 12 years to write it. Hopefully, I’ve still got some things left to do.
